google ads
Hey, just got my site approved for google ads, but all the ads are about public services, example: endangered species and things about cancer. I've already changed things to the specific size and color, but I want the ads to be related to my site, which is about funny jokes etc. How would i go about doing this?

you should read the information they give you
leave it upto 48 hours and it should change accordingly automatically

you need to give google some time to visit your page and decide which ads it should provide to you
don't worry |

ok, it works now, but there are barely any different ones, and sometimes none display. Could you please look at www.funny-guys.com and tell me if i should use better keywords.
My keywords are obvious: Jokes, Funny Pictures and Funny Stuff etc. |

There are only a few adverts showing because there are only a few advertisers targetting those words. I get this a lot on one of my sites. In my case the site is in a pretty small niche, so I didn't expect to get a full set of ads on all the pages.
In your case I would guess it's because there are a heck of a lot of sites in the area you're targetting, which means lots of adverts appearing, and any advertisers use up their allowance of clicks very quickly so the adverts disappear. Also, to be honest if I was promoting my joke-related products site, I would use Adwords to promote it, I'd be trying viral campaign stuff. Would you visit a joke site you saw in an advert? |

your targeting keywords should be more specific if you want to get more relevant ads.

Sorry, I did mean 'wouldn't', bit of a slip of a keyboard there (in the worst area possible!) And I didn't mean this is stuff you should do. What I meant was, if I had a joke site to promote, I wouldn't be using Adwords as it probably isn't very effective, I'd be more likely to use something like a viral campaign. Therefore, as the adverts appearing on your website are going to be people targeting joke-related words to promote their own joke-related sites, there aren't going to be many adverts to be shown. What I'm trying to say is: Adwords probably aren't going to be the most effective adverts to have one your website if you want to make money from them. You'd probably be better off running another system of adverts, or at least trying one out to see what the results are. I can't think of which one you should use off the top of my head, but I would say just check some other siets within your area and see what they are using and give that a try. Sorry about the confusion about my other response. Paul |
