The adds are great, since its based on the content of the page your viewing it usually has pretty decent links that people actually click through on. Sometimes it go wonky... I know on my site it's thought that I was looking for a cure for cancer and stuff on my main page because there was some information about the mydoom virus. Other than that... non-intrusive and you can incorporate it into the site so it looks like it belongs.

in 4 days I've made about 2 bucks, but I also just started my site up, I've only gotten about 400 hits so far. It varies based on what is clicked in the ads as well I got 1 dollar off of a single click where one day I had 8 clicks and got 22 cents.

divulging specific numbers about what you make through AdSense is a violation of your contract.

That being said, with over 7,000 impressions, I have about enough to buy a Pepsi at the grocery store.

In the last five years, I've been using three adserve programs - ValueClick, DoubleClick, and now AdSense. Only the last one has given me the feeling of being a partner. Responsive, versatile, and to the point. Definitely for sites that offer rich textual content. AdSense goes hand in hand with googlebot, in the sense, that you will start seeing the results of your efforts only after having the first 50K pages indexed by Google.

When my site gets online, I am thinking about gettin Adsense, but is there any others which also are great? I have mostly only heard good things about adsense.

is there a way to find out which ad pays what ?

Each click pays "a percentage" (whatever that is) of the bid value for the link. There are [imo stupid] people who bid upwords of $10 a click for certain keywords, so you could theoretically make a killing from a single click. But that's uncommon, and you'll generally make much less than 25 cents a click.

The minimum one can bid is 5c, and the minimum one can get is 3c. The maximum bid, officially declared, is about $50. And there are people that go for it. The reason for such "crazy" bids is in the bid system itself. Some ads simply do not show up if under the bar. Google AdWords seems to be the most intelligent ad system ever contrived.

Did anyone really get one of the big fish clicks (over $2.5)? I never heard of anyone getting more than a $1.

I think answering that question violates the google adsense terms of service.

You should never divulge specific information about what you make with Adsense. Get caught doing it and the Google police will terminate your account.

What you make off of each click is solely dependent on what the advertisers (Adwords subscribers) are willing to bid on the key word.

Personally, I think the Adsense program is top notch. Not only are the ads very relevant to the page’s content they are displayed on, they have a “classy” look to them in my opinion. No flashing images or obnoxious displays, just relevant ads based on you page’s content.

I’ve also been very impressed with how quickly Google pays out. I’ve been with other similar programs that take months to pay out even when you’ve reached the minimum payout amount. Google on the other hand is always right on schedule with quick, accurate payments.
