Google sitemap and phpBB
Hi, I want my bulletin board to be indexed by google, so I have put www.thesite.com/board in the sitemap.xml. Will googlebot automatically drill down into the board?
Obviously I can't put every page on the board in the sitemap, especially as the nature of a bulletin board is that more pages are added all the time and pages change and all... Also. I intend to investigate mod_rewrite as there is a mod for phpBB to fix it's horrible urls. 1) how important are pretty URLs? 2) Is there any harm in submitting to google then fixing the URLs and then resubmitting? 3) Is it true that if you change your sitemap and resubmit your sitemap that the googlebot will visit? Thanks for your time and consideration! ![]() |

Google will visit and will drill down anyway, even without a sitemap.xml, so long as you have inbound links.
Pretty URLs dont count for anything, but google doesnt index after the &id= tag, so replace those with static or simple URLs.

Thanks, I found a cool phpBB mod that modifies the URL to something beautiful. And it's sooooo beautiful in comparison!
