How long your website is live?
From the moment you go live, usually, it takes about a couple of months before your site is crawled. A few tips: Do not put dead links on your site, Google hates that, the rest of the search engines are okay with it thought!. Do not exaggerate your Meta tags; they will drop you as well. Search your websites name on every search engine, it does help a bit. But like the saying, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Buona Fortuna! |

2 weeks, it’s early to complain about search engines, especially if you didn’t submit to one of them.
If all your links are working and the content is good, you can start here, but I am warning you, it’s hard to get accepted. ![]() |

Yah, DMOZ is the best place to get listed but it can take 6-9 months to get listed. One of the fastest ways to get the search engines to notice you is to get a link to your site from a prominent site, of similar content, that is already well ranking. |

search engines
for starters...a title tag would be nice.
all that meta garbage is fairly useless for the important search engines. you have 2 head closing tags. try this link for html validation: http://validator.w3.org/ fix the page and wait some more. get some links to your site from other sites that are indexed in the search engines. this doesnt hurt: http://www.google.com/addurl.html but no guarantees. .

urban myth often spoken about, but in fact you would be quite wrong, google have said in many publications that they do indeed pay very good attention to the metatags, and since they have gotta be one of the major players amongst the search engine brethren, you would have to be nuts to trim down the tagsi do agree about the NEED for a title tag, and with description, dont keep it short edit ; missed a word out

This belongs in the Search Engine Optimization forum. I've requested that a moderator of this forum move it.

The Googlebot crawls your site will crawl your site usually within 5 to 10 minutes of you adding the URL.
Also, spiders like robots.txt, a text file that tells them what not to go to and what to go to... If you have Analog or something, it tells you what robots have visited your site. You will also need a robots.txt if you are on a tight leash for bandwidth... Googlebot has been known to visit sites up to 3 times a second... |
