How do I submit my website to search engines (google, yahoo, etc..)??

How do I submit my website to a search engine like google or yahoo? Does it have to be done through a software product like SubmitWolf or does that just increase chances?

Do I have to pay to submit my site? I posted something similar a week or so back but didnt get any definitive responses.

These are free submissions. You can do a search on yahoo, google, or other search engines for other places to submit your site, just type in "submit website", for example, that will give you plenty to start with.

make sure yr site is complete and also submit yr site to 'dmoz' search engine .

I was also recommended, as far as third party companies/software goes, that http://www.submitwolf.net/ was good.

Anyone know of any others that I should look into?

How do these third party companies enhance search results through software? Their .exe automatically submits information to various search engine to better your pageRank?

can someone explain pagerank to me? how it is determined, how you can set it on your own page, and how you can view other pages page rank?
