Post How do you get backlinks

'How do you get backlinks' is the most fundmental question asked by almost every webmaster and every time they get either a vague answer like 'Its all about being smart' or partially true answer like 'Links will automatically come if you have great content'. However the truth is the almost all webmasters use more or less same methodologies for getting backlinks from different sources and in the beginning you always have to build backlinks yourself. Here I will tell you some basic ways to get backlinks for your website:

1) Forum Posts:
This is my most favourite way and considered to be one of the most effective way of getting large number of backlinks. Although its true that you will have to work very hard to get enough forum posts backlinks so that it starts getting counted in search-engine rankings because its true that the worth of a backlink from forum is much less than other websites.

2) Article Writing:
Article writing was once considered the core method for link building but not today. But eventhough article writing has lost its dominance in SEO methods after Panda updates, but it still has potential to give you some link juice for ranking for perticular keywords. As far as article writing is concerned every week you should get two or three article up on ezine and other article directories and include couple of your backlinks in it.

3) Guest-Blogging:
Guest blogging can get you some highly valuable backlinks. Altough you will not be able to get high number of backlinks but backlinks from guest-blogging are the most valuable among all backlinks. So if you write one or two guest blogposts every day you will get a significant number of high PR backlinks in a month or so.

4) Link exchange:
Once again it not the best way of building backlinks but you should never the less do it because nothing is better than something. Link-exchange has the potential to get you a small amount of link juice. I am recomending this way because you should not lose any opportunity of getting even a small amount of link juice.

Thanks

Backlinks coming from dofollow social bookmarking sites are also beneficial. There are also some bookmarking sites where you can include anchor text in the description field. I have been using a couple of such bookmarking sites that are helping me to improve my rankings in less time.

You have to be careful with a technique like that and proceed with moderation. A link wheel is where numerous blog/microsites are created about a particular topic. The wheel comes into effect when you create 1 link to your targeted site and 1 link to the blog site.

I would like to add one thing here, a lot of people go for Link Exchanges or even Link purchasing to ensure high SEO rankings.

But, I would advocate you to NEVER go for link purchases as it would do more harm than good to your website.

In addition to this, Make sure that you check the credibility of a website before accepting to exchange links with it.

Collect list of webmasters and send request for link building with same theme. Sure they will exchange link with you.

I use back link watch to see where others are getting their links from. Does anybody else have unique ways to find good places to build links?
