How highly are sub.domains ranked?
How highly does google rank a site with for example the subdomain dogtoys.7df.com as opposed to dogtoys.com?

Sub domains can rate as good as the main domain providing the usual SEO practices are applied (good navigation structure, relevant keyword/content, code compliance, inbounds etc). Take Devshed - devshed.com PR8, forums.devshed.com (sub domain) PR6.

subdomains are just domains as far as search engines are concerned. If you think about it www.mydomain.com is a subdomain, these rank just fine. The only problem you may get with subdomains is if you're copying content from the main domain etc.
