How long does a listing on google take?
Hi,

I submitted my site to google about 2 weeks ago. I can log into google webmaster tools and it's there and can see my site map and all, but I'm still not appearing on google, even if I search for www.mydomain.com. Does this take a while or should I be investigating something?

It is not unusual for Google to take a while caching and indexing a site. From my own experience there seems to be no set time period. Some sites have been indexed in a couple of days, others in a month.

I think as long as you have followed the Google published webmaster guides you just have to hang in there and hope they index sooner rather than later.

Apparently all new sites are put in the 'sandbox' for a period of around 4 - 6 months before being indexed properly by google.

This is heresay mind you, but could be right.

Six months is average in the Sandbox. There's nothing you can do about it. Google will index your pages, but you wont appear in the SERPS.

Best thing to do is just to not think about it, and use the time to keep adding relevant content. Then one day you will see your positions leap and you will have a happy day!

you need some backlinks and you will be indexed immediatly
the more and good your backlinks are, the sooner you get indexed
about the sandbox...don't worry, some say it does not even exist..

Well I'm happy to say I'm now listed...

I could see the googlebot visiting many times, but it seemed to take a week or 2 before it listed me...
I do have low page rankings but I can get a 1 place ranking with 2 keywords and I haven't even tried optimising for keywords yet...I'm very happy
