I need help to get my sites listed in DMOZ
I need some help to get my sites listed in DMOZ. I have tried to submit them properly several times but have never had any reply.
The sites are related to gambling and roulette. http://www.playhard.co.uk/ http://www.mayer-roulette-strategy.co.uk/ How do you get listed in DMOZ?

I was going to ask if anyone actually used them?
Obviously people do..... I have submitted site previously and never got listed .. going through the steps listed on their site. Funnily enough I just tried to list another one today (http://mdb4u.mobi/) ... so we could have a race ![]() I'm sorry, can't offer any tips. I do know that it can take months for the submission to be entered after it has been finally reviewed (which I think takes a couple of days or weeks perhaps). Good luck.

Getting listed in DMOZ is slow enough at the best of times. But for anything gambling/adult related... Unless your site is something VERY special, it will get passed over, mainly because of the sheer number of sites that are out there. As you can imagine, 99.9999% of the sites that get submitted to the gambling categories are nothing more then a few pages of stolen text surrounded by flashing adds. In that category, it takes something special to stand out.

Thanks for the advice. I've decided to give up on DMOZ and just concentrate on content.

The DMOZ can be hit and miss but if your site offers something of value and you spend time getting the right category first and it is finished then it can take only a day or 2 or a week to get in.
I've known 1 site to take less than 24 hours since submitting. It really depends on the - 1. The reviewer for the category, If they can not be arsed it may take a while. 2. How packed the category is. 3. If the site offers anything of value, or is just a standard ecommerce or sorry spam shop. In other words nothing of any decent value to anyone but the site owner. If you get the category wrong they wont pass it on for the reviewer for the correct category they will just throw it out and is one reason why a lot of sites dont get in. So make sure it's the right category in someone elses eyes than yours, first. But overall make sure you offer something of value. At the end of the day they have to keep crap sites out to keep the DMOZ directory of any use to their visitors. I use it from time to time and I like the results I can get from it. If I got crap sites I probably wouldn't bother. Jaz |

DMOZ is no longer what is was. Although it still seems to carry a lot of weight (or link juice) the real problem is that there is no transparency on what gets listed.
I have tried to get sites listed in the past and got no response whatsoever, despite the sites being PR4 and genuine high quality sites - much better than other sites that were listed. Many suspect that some editors are not independent. My advice: Give up on DMOZ and concentrate on content. |

DMOZ is the most sluggish directory in this whole world where your submissions can take upto 1-2 years for approval.
I wonder what "D" stands for ?? . I think it is "Dracula's Closed Directory Project" ![]()

Mine too, I have submitted several times but still no good news. Maybe about your part, its hard to index because your category is gambling.

There is no short cut. Every suggestion is seriously reviewed by a volunteer which takes a lot of time. Meanwhile just collect other links.

My Advice: Dont bother
I got mine listed but it took months. I have just looked at the stats (having forgotten all about it) and since Feb 1st this year (around when I got the link) I have had all of .... wait for it ... 17 referrals! |
