I think Google may have banned me - white text??
I'm not too sure if my site has suddenly been "banned" by Google.
http://www.algarvelets.net It was listed last week, but over this weekend it has disappeared from the index. I think there might be one problem with it: I use white text with a white background, although to make the text visible I use red layout tables to frame the text. I believe Google may think that I'm using "hidden text". Is there any way to remedy this? I really don't want to change my text colour! |

Try replacing all your literal formatting with css. Also, was a frameset really necessary for this layout? I'd get rid of frames as well.

I'll apply a white text CSS as you said, but if this would get around the Google issue then why don't "real" keyword spammers use this trick also? I'm a beginner at this as you might gather! The other solution I thought of would be to change the background colour to something "off white".......? Thanks for the advice! |

If your site has been banned from google then you will struggle to have it placed back in the index. Google tend to be very picky as to who they let back in. Google spiders also know if text is trying to be hidden. Spiders will only recognize text that is visible to the eye. Setting a colour slightly off white is not going to work. Hope these couple of points help |

Matthew,
It would make sense that Google dropped your from the SERPs because of obscured content. Google has no way of telling what colour your image background is to the table. However, your site has only been up for a few months, so change the background color to something that contrasts with white and have another go. I have known very new sites to appear and then disappear from SERPs before. On a side note, you are likely to want to drop the use of frames layout tables if you want to get any traffic from Google on highly competitive holiday keywords.

Re: frames
I have made use of the NOFRAMES tag on all frameset pages to link to a sitemap, I've also made sure that the entire site can still be navigated without using frames. I was hoping that this would mean that the web-spiders would be able to navigate their way through the entire site. Is this not the case? I'm using frames so not to force the images in the navigation bar to reload each time the user navigates to a different page. I figure I'm going to get quite a few dialup users coming to my site. Is there any way to do this without using frames? Also, you mentioned layout tables/cells causing problems for SEs. How would I get around using these? Thanks for the advice guys! |

this dosn't matter. if you would use tables/or even better CSS, then the images would be cached and wouldn't reload anyways the netxt time the browser reloads ... |

I checked the following tool and it doesn't appear that you site has been banned, however, I am not certain of this tools accuracy. Good luck.

Even with the no frames content, the spicers will have a harder time getting to, and spidering your site. They all say they can handle them, but most do so poorly.
I had a site that was framed, and my rankings and placement went up once I dropped the frames. |
