Well posting on this site is a good start as it will provide backward links to your page. Other than that, you'll need to beef up on standard seo stuff like meta tags etc.

wasit your site that just popped up 5 popup windows or devshed. because if you do that, google will not give you a good looking. you also need high link popularity (other sites linking to yours)

ranking is relevant it all depends on your targeting keywords. For new sites, you need to try less competitive keywords with reasonable keyword popularity.
