Images Not Seen By Bots

I rebuilt a site which has been up for over 6 weeks. I'm having two really frusterating problems. One is that none of the images are showing up in any of the search engines. They other is that all the images from the old site still show up in the search engines. When I check my stats, I see that googlebot has crawled my site very well and search results are satisfactory, but I don't see any hits from the googleimagebot or whatever it is called. The same goes with the other search engines. Are the search engines just really slow with images, or is there something wrong with my site or server configuration? Note that I have used alt tags for every single image and that the site is completely valid. I'm using mod-rewrite for pretty url's and php for site generation. The site is www.brucethorn.com . Are all of your images in one folder? Is so you could try limiting bots exposure to that directory by adding the following to your robots.txt file.

Disallow: /pics-folder/

Yes, they are in one folder, but perhaps I wasn't articulate. I want the bots to see the images, but for some reason, they don't. And the bots haven't seemed to realize that image content from the old site no longer exists either.

the image bots are slower...and on some sites they dont crawl images at all, I 'm not sure why
