Inline ads really worth it?
Ok I will admit I'm a relative newbie when it comes to ads.
I had some google ads a while back on a site that I helped run for a few months. Now TBH that was about it I really had more important things on at the time and TBH I didn't look to much into it after posting the code on the site. Now I'm taking on ads in a larger way and thanks to a previous post I have learnt what an inline ad is TBH it was quite obvious now I know the offical term. But are these really that good? I tend to avoid them like the plague TBH most times I wont even let them load before I'm off. I know devshed uses them and a lot of other sites do as well but how good in comprassion to textual ads are they? Jaz |

Online ads are very good. The thing to remember is that there supposed to be used as an extension to searching. They are very good for binging revenue. The sectret of success is to make sure that the links look like normal hyperlinks on your site. This way people are more inclined to use them. Recent figures show that arround 60% of revenue on the web is generated from inline links. This is a huge number compared to the number of boxed ads you see on normal pages. So in short inline ads are a lot better at generating revenue if you use them correctly. For my website they account for well over 75% of the revenue. The great thing about them is you can try them and if they dont work you can get rid of them. See how it goes. Hope this help answer your question. |

Well I suppose that is more down to how well you use IA TBH.
But I'm going to give them a try now so thanks for that. Jaz |

As a Surfer (and having worked on a website that generates 100% revenue from ads), i would agree with matt.
My pennies worth to chuck in is, make sure they're relevant. Dont try selling a mobile phone on a page about flowers, It annoys users. I've found a good inline technique is to try and use the links in some cases as a learning aid. for example I tend to use mysql for most of my database requirements as it is very good, and best of all free database server. I have seen some really bad an annoying examples where someone (on a blog using inline Ads for example) was talking about the iphone on the blog about mobiles. it was something like. "I dont know what apple are playing at. It doesn't even support MMS!" the Apple was a link to an inline ad. I clicked it (i was considering a new phone) and it took me to a website trying to sell me a macbook!!! If i wanted an Apple notebook i would be on a notebook forum, not a mobile forum :@ Anyways.. sorry i started ranting.. point of the post is.. Make sure your inline ads are relevant to content, or you will just annoy your visitors ![]() |

Excelent advice, though if the ads company is cleaver they should do this for you by looking at your site keywords. Though in practice this isnt always the case.
An important thing with IA is that they remain in the content of the website not on the menus/ side bars. If they end up here people will not look at them and they are a waste. * On a slightly different note, i thought I was doing well with over a 100 posts within a month! GOod job |

In line ads
Hi, another n00b here - can you give a link to a site that uses in line ads correctly?
Or some other example? |

Check out either adbrite, which is probably googles biggest competitor, or kontera.com. I use kontera and get a lot of money from them for advertising. They seem to be giving the best pay outs at the moment.

Yep. I agree here. @ tikifragalong It's hard to give an example of the Ad's being used correctly, because if they are being used correctly, you tend not to remember lol (which in this case is a good thing) just remember the basic rule. Make sure your ads ar |
