Is it overkill to use Overture, LookSmart, & Adwords?

I am deciding whether or not we should scale back to just adwords or what. I don't want to comprimise our exposure, but at the same time don't want to needlessly spend money. What do you guys think?

Our marketing budget is about $2500 a month for our small consulting firm, so we decided to use $1500 a month for two months spending $500 at google, $500 at overture, and $500 on "sponsoring" web pages. The other $1000 pays for our billboard and print ads in the local business journal.

I think we still have a balance of around $300 with overture and in November we are going to spend about $750 a month with google as we have gotten about 30 leads and six new customers from Adwords. I think it was about 20 leads and maybe 1 or 2 new clients from Overture and like 2 leads from "sponsorship".

Granted, being in consulting we get 90% of our business from referrals and only about 10% from "dumb luck" and advertising.

I don't think it's necessarily overkill. The likelihood is that your accessing different users. It all depends on your strategy, what it is you sell, your budget, and what it is you are trying to achieve.

I'm in your same boat, and I think the way is look for someone that add your link in his/her listed webpage.
Good luck
