if you code you pages to log "http referrers" it will show you exactly what a user entered into Google's, Yahoo etc. search tray...

i.e. your referrer log will print the search engine URL that was clicked on to take the user to your page...if you bring the URL up in your own browser you will see exactly what the user entered (searched for)

Dear tj_nt,

thanks for reply.
when I go to my access_log file I have referrer header when I copy and past (what the user was searching for) I get some word in google search box but my website is not in the search list.

Can I ask why I have referrer header in my access_log why I type the referrer in address bar my website is not in the search result?

Thanks

Arif_amin

The easiest way is to use the weblogs from your server. You wont want to look at them "raw" as they are quite confusing, but if you use something like webalizer then you can easily interpret all your traffic stats, including the pages visited, regions and operating system of your visitors, which search engine they used and even what the search terms were.

Many hosting providers install Webalizer (or similar) by default so it is worth asking them how to view your traffic stats.

Another alternative is to use Google Analytics. The advantage of that is that you can set it all up yourself quite easily, and once you have got it installed you will be able to use it in conjunction with Adwords or Adsense as well - which is something that might be of interest in future.

Hope that helps.
