PR is passed through links, so all of these might have something to do with it

Yes, they are quite different...you need to keep building backlinks, with emphasis on their pagerank, and relevency to your site. keep content fresh on your site, and focus on keyword integration.

that's a good place to start...head over here for more info.

hope that helps!

My site has a Google PR of 3 too, what does this actually mean though? - I know its something to do with the expected number of visitors but not sure of the exact definition....?

It only means that there is so-many links with that-much PR pointing to your site. Not much else. It is not directly related to the ranking in the search results nor to the expected number of visitors.

the entire purpose of SEO is as it's title suggests...to optimize your site for search engine performance, and thusly get more traffic.

it's a tough game...there are no simple methods to gain traffic. as i said, go out, gain relevant backlinks, and keep your content fresh. Things like forums and blogs help, but you've got to find a niche to get people to come and use your forum, which isn't an easy task either.

best of luck, hope this helps.

Might be possibility that your site is hanging around with those unrelated neighbours.
only way to increase it is to have more links pointing to your site.Try to improve your site and work out to get Get inbound links which can boost your rankings.
