Need help with google search results

Ive been asked to find a way to improve the search results for a certain keyword combination (our company name). Our homepage shows up at the top of the list, but there are other links on the 2nd page of the results, which link to our site and we want to get as many of them as we can on the <b>first</b> page. Any ideas ?

Which search engines are you talking about?

If you have keyword placement on the first page, or even at the top of the SE's then that is great!

I would just make sure that you are using new and refreshing content sprinkled with Keywords.

Are the links that are on the other page, other sites, or are they other pages within your site?

If they are other sites, link to them.

If they are other pages in your site, refer to this post [http://forums.devshed.com/showthread.php?p=1463335#post1463335] to help you out in getting other pages placed.

Also mind that your company name might not be a very competitive key term, so the #1 placement might be misleading.

The primary search engine im talking about in this case is google. There are a number of sites that are on the 2nd page of search results which we would like to show up on the 1st page. Linking to them from our site will help you say ?

There are also some on the first page that we would like just about any site to be listed before them. That would require getting other sites to be ranked higher by google for that keyword combination, correct ?

What about buying text ads with the keywords in the links?

In my opinion, you will not have control over those links, because its on other servers. To get more links on first page, do more SEO work for your internal site pages only.
