Page rank 5 to 0
This week we have a site that is no longer ranked by Google. Page rank 5 down to 0. Traffic has plummeted as a result to next to nothing here near Christmas, what would normally be our busiest time of year.
What could have caused this to happen?? ![]() |

For your PR to hit 0 and your rankings to suddenly drop usually means your site has been banned but not always. To verify this simply create a Google Webmaster Tools account. If you're banned it will tell you in there. Other possible reason is your site had just received a new site bump and now that's gone. That is common. As far as PR goes you may have not really had a PR of 5 but rather the toolbar was guessing which is also common. I guess I should ask how old your website is? |

It has been around since 2003 with content that grows and changes weekly. Over 300K of pages in total. Webmaster Tools doesn't show it as banned. |

Ok, that's good. This may just be a blip then. I've seen it happen before and then all of a sudden things return to normal. Hopefully this is the case for you and within the next few days everything is fine again. I guess at this point as I can do is wish you luck. ![]() |

Ask Google...
You may want to email Google and just ask them straight up. They usually respond fairly quickly and they'll give you the low down.
Good luck! |

I emailed them. We are still at rank 0 with no sign as to what caused it. No idea if the email went to the right department.
Another thing that is very confusing is the fact that many of our pages have a much higher rank than our domain's default page. ![]() Last edited by bauhsoj : November 8th, 2007 at 10:31 AM. |

I saw one of my sites go from PR 4 to 1. Not as bad as yours but still pretty harsh. I've heard many people say that Google's new update is very strict against sites that have any kind of paid links on their homepage. I use a linkswapping service and have now removed it.

It is big fall,
In similar case I heard earlier the PR were dropped to 4 of both Problogger and Copyblogger, they managed to get it back to PR 6 after contacting google, so I think you should also try to contact them.
