PLease Help....

Hello, I have been trying for months to get listed on the first page on google. No matter how I change my content/tags I cant get listed anywhere near the front. I dont know if my tags are done incorrectly or the fact that I have a flash navigation panel but nothing seems to help. Please take a look and tell me what you think. www.dynamicdvd.net
Thanks

Use your site name in the page title instead for starters. That's an awfull long string of words to try and remember.

You pretty much don't have any metatags

Use full URLS in any links. Relative paths are nice and neat but the bots like the full path.

Name recognition, valid text content, and usefull links to other high ranked sites are what'll get you top ranking.

Try hidden menu links using a 1x1 clear pixel eg: <a href="http://wenpigsfly.org/ss/2.htm" target="_blank"><img src="clearpixel.gif" width="1" height="1" border="0"></a>

Your vistors won't see it but the bots will. Then it won't matter what your main menu looks like. This works well for sites with frames as well.

I got a lot more but it would take a page or 2 to cover it all.

Take a look at the source of this page for some examples of what we use on our sites.

Thanks for the reply....but what would putting an invisible link on my site do?? I thought you would need links FROM other sites TO mine to improve ranking.
Thanks

An invisible link is only invisible to human eyes. A bot will pick that link up and crawl it just like any other link. If the problem is with your navigation menu, this will make a huge difference.

You can also add text to the alt tag which should also be picked up by the bots. That's the kind of thing they're looking for.

googlebot pretty much lives at my sites. I have roundy round links which keeps it coming back for more and these invisible links are a large part of that.

Repeating you keywords and site name throughout the index or any linked pages will also help. Even if it's not visible to human eyes. And always link back to all your other pages! Invisibly or otherwise.

Your metatags really do need work though if you want to be successfull.
This script will help you. Set the revisit for 2 or 3 days.

Sorry to sound like a newbie, but what is the tag generator link you sent me do? And your saying that I should create tiny invisible links on my index and other pages interlinking back and forth from one another to create bot traffic?
Thanks for the help

That's exactly right.

The metatag generator will create the proper tags for your pages. It helps the bot identify and index your results better.

You might get a fair showing on google with lousy tags if there's a great deal of interest in your product or if your text is relevant to something, but without the proper metatags and indexes, your results will be limited, condensed, etc.

Give each page a unique title but include the main site name in each.

Name recognition is a big factor. But definitely keep the titles shorter.

Here's something else that can help and it may sound complicated but the results are very good.

Install a bunch of scripts and services, better if you have sub domains than just folders but either will work.

They don't have to be relevant to your main site at all,
all they have to do is draw a bit of attention and contain links to each other and most importantly, to your main site.

You can pick up a lot of these scripts at hotscripts.com and at sourceforge.net.

Image generators that allow some hotlinking are good. Anywhere they are used, google will find your links and follow them back to your sites.

A lot of people develop one site and fuss over it trying to get a high ranking. Don't limit yourself!
If some other insignificant site or service can generate traffic to your main site, in time that'll pay off.

Don't forget to include text and linked text describing your sites and services. Repeat your site name often in your page text. Remember, name recognition!

When you post on a forum like this make sure your sig includes links to your site. That alone can generate a lot of traffic and google spends lot of time here indexing things like that.
When you post for help, don't just post the URL, give your site name and a brief description of your service. Just don't abuse that to the point where it becomes spam.

And on the subject of spam.... there are forums that allow a fair bit of spamming.
Say something relevant to the rest of the spam but include plain text and linked text references to your site.
