have you looked on google's site?

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important."
i guess you could say that to some degree, your google PR shows where you stand on google, and represents links from different sites. bah, just read what google said. i'm having trouble wording things today.

a good site to check your google PR: www.prchecker.info

it will give you a number x / 10. obviously, 10 being the greatest and 0 being the worst.

Now i get it. The word PR originated from Google. I thought PR is a generic term used. Anyway, thanks for the valuable info on PR. I will have to look into it further.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

PR means page rank. It mainly define by google. Google PageRank uses the Internet's link structure as an indication of each web page's relevancy. It shows how page is important.

This is very complicated. PR in short is rate of a site given by Google to show how valuable they are, The process is very complex. There are at least 200 parameter for page rank. As we all now the parameter are ever changing it really a mysterious procedure, No one can say about it with pin point accuracy.

    Hi,

You are very correct with your view. Page rank depends on your work quality. But one thing is also there you need to submit your website on good page rank directories to get good rank on search engine.

    Search Management

Page Rank is one of more than 100 factors Google uses in the ranking of you website and your resulting position on their search engine. You get Page Rank (PR) by having backward links from other website pages that have a higher PR rating than your site page the link is to. The PR of your site is updated about once of month when Google updates their database of web pages.

One more interesting thing about PR is Google represents it in floating points but PR tools in browser not show it in floating points.
