Questions On Raising Search Engine Posistion

Hi All,

Thinking of a few methods for raising my posistion on the search sites. Got a couple of questions if anyone knows the answers it would be much appreciated.

1) Do all sites base the search posistion on counting links to the site? or just google?
2) Do the spiders recognise links that for example have no text, or a non-breaking space? ie
PHP Code:
<a href='example.com'></a>
or <
a href='example.com'>&nbsp;</a

or would there be a minimum number of characters? presumably it doesnt take account of colour, so white on white with text would work as well as black on white e.t.c

3) Are reciprocated links more or less important than on-way links? or does this make no difference?

Thanks

Thats all folks!

These are all wonderful ways to get your site banned from the search engines.
Hiding text by placing white text on white backgrounds, etc. is an old spamming trick that they picked up on long ago.
As far as the links go, they look at the link text to determine the amount of relevancy to your keywords - of which you would have none.

Yeah, link a blank space would only help raise your PR, but that isn't really important at all. if you are trying to rank for "widgets", you need to get links like this:
<a href="http://www.domain.exa">widgets</a>
