Recieving thousands ?

Hi,

Ive have a range of websites and the highest amount of users ive ever got in one day is 203. (sometime last year). Usually the website now recieves anything betweem 80-90 users daily. Ive read alot of stuff on meta tags, leaving a little add in forum sigs and a whole range of other methods but I would like to know one thing.. How do you recieve thousands of users who come regulary?

example: Forums for an example. There are some forums like this one or the one on some famious body builders website where the user count is never less than 20. How on earth do they do it? Surely not everyone is interested in a particular subject!?!

What is the key to getting MANY users fast? Plus interesting them into signing up to a forum and participating? Out of all the uses who visit hardly any signup let alone use it.

Any advice will be welcomed.

To get people to return to your webpage, you've got to give them something new each time, else what would be the point of returning?
To get people to come to your site in the fist place, you've got to let them know about it, forum sigs are an easy free way of doing it, then there's link exchanges, paid advertising et cetera.
This forum covers a very wide range of subjects, and yes, that many people are interesed.
Find a girl scout meeting and see if you can get them to put flyers for your site inside those boxes of cookies that they sell. Urm.... you want me to tell you everything I know about design and content writing in one post? I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be possible.
I suppose good navigation, easy reading and not overwhelming the visitors is a good start, but this is a bit of a massive question.

Unfortunately we don't get any girl scouts here *cough, just a load of crack addicts*.
