Search Engine Ranking

Hi,

I am planning to develop a new website and would like to make sure that I do all that is possible for me to make it rank as high as possible when people search on google, yahoo, etc.

I am relativly new to the web-industry, have done some small staff, but never a project like this one, and I am trying to research what should I do and not do.

To get high SERP, develop your site properly, submit your site in relevant directories, use targeted keywords in your content, and also try to get backlinks from relevant sites. All these points will help you in getting high SERP.

A great resource for all things SEO can be found at SEO Chat. IMO it's well worth a visit.; there are loads of articles and tools to help and specific information for optimizing your site for the 'big guns'.

A blog is great way o getting traffic to your website. What you can do is use the blog to add news or inputs about your website or tools or services that are related to your website.

You can use www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com both are free hosting online or if you have your own hosting download www.wordpress.org which is better, you will have more rights to it when editing stuff.

Once you setup your blog , submit your blog a directory and RSS submission sites. Go the following website for a list

Keywords and keyword phrases are also to be use in a blog, but not to much..blogging a like a online live journal...the key is to get fresh contact around your topic and search engines will pick it up....

Many people are starting to use rss readers. So a blog would be great...
