I'm a newbie here. Want to clarify on these to start with,

> Which 'll give better ROI- SEO or SEM?
> If I optimize the site, & search say on Yahoo Singapore & Yahoo UK, will the rank of my website be same on both?

Pls guide.

Cheers,
Anu

Unfourtunately, this isn't a simple matter of 'which one is better'.

Successful web design is a balance of optimization, marketing, quality content, quality/relevant link building, and efficient coding (the list goes on).

I'd suggest you have a look at seo chat for starters.

Best of luck!!

Ran_Dizolph is right. There is no suh thing as better. It is how you work each one is what makes the difference. There are people who optimize their site and think their site will suddenly be on the 1st page overnight and other who use PPC advertising but use crappy descriptions and do not do extensive research on keywords to target. Like Dizolph said take a look at SeoChat.com and do alot of research. SEO and SEM are not simple topics and you can get burned if you do it wrong.

If you need anymore help feel free to ask. But try and do some research first and you will learn alot of new stuff
Good Luck!
