I'm a newbie here. Want to clarify on these to start with, > Which 'll give better ROI- SEO or SEM? > If I optimize the site, & search say on Yahoo Singapore & Yahoo UK, will the rank of my website be same on both? Pls guide. Cheers, Anu |

Unfourtunately, this isn't a simple matter of 'which one is better'.
Successful web design is a balance of optimization, marketing, quality content, quality/relevant link building, and efficient coding (the list goes on). I'd suggest you have a look at seo chat for starters. Best of luck!!
