In a word, Relevancy.

Spend some manual time including your site in relevant directories. Add a sitemap and get an analytics account (both free, both from Google).

Email webmasters of sites that rank well for the keywords you are bidding for and suggest a link exchange. Obviously try to avoid linking to direct competitors if you are selling stuff

Don't forget about other search engines. OK Google are the biggest but traffic will come via MSN, Yahoo and the rest too.

If practible, add an RSS feed that viewers can subscribe to and include the feed URL in rss directories. Add a signature containing a link to your site in posts you make in forums (check the signature rules of forums first though and play the game according to those rules)

Be patient. It takes time.

Not only link exchange is good, but a new thing yu could try to develop is three-way linking. This even more increases your SE-rating. Read more about it here:

Pretty nice concept and I'm already trying to realize it at one of my sites: zhoog.com

good luck,

John

I personally am a fan of buying a few links to get started. It can get much more traffic than you get by spending the saem amount of money on Adwords.

That's just me personal feeling. And of course teh traffic from Adwords is likely to be more relevant because it has been searched for. In the end there are no shortcuts and you need good content and genuine inbound links from relevant sites - but then I expect you've heard that a few times by now.

Good luck!

hi,

good inbound links require for search engine optimization. the inbound links should be ethical and it wiil be better to be natural. always try to get oneway natural links, so that your sitewill get high value. find directories(high page rank) similar to your page rank or more than yours.

it is wiseable to get links from article sites and article directories, because links from article sites are most natural than any other links

Content is still king - long live the king!

Agree with everyone else regarding some fast-tracking like buying in links, exchanging links, etc.

At the end of the day, you need to create a site which is truly useful. Then people will want to see what you've got, link to your site and push you up the rankings.
Inbound links really need to be relevant ones and preferably from high pageranked sites.
If you have the content, you will get there, it will just take a lot longer.

I spoke to an MD recently complaining about his "poor" Google pagerank of 5. Took a look at his site and found some interesting results. It has only TWO inbound links from other sites and just over 100 links from its own pages, So I could only conclude that his pagerank is due to content. Over 30000 pages worth!

Of course, submitting to many directories is good. I caution on link exchanges one-way relevant back links are better. Write and submit articles on subjects in your industry and include a signature file to your web site. Keep submitting posts to this forum at least 30 before you get to include a signature file. Hope this helps.

Marlon

I completely agree with this suggestion and it is more then enough to follow the points mentioned over here instead of getting confused going on different SEO site and confusing your self.
