Should I allow website addresses in signature of my forum
Hi, is it a bad idea to allow URLs in member's signitures.
I remember reading before that part of park rank calculations are amount of inbound links verses out bound links. I'm sure it'll be great for a person to have loads of links from my forum to his site but that must be bad for me? |

If you mean the PageRank leak, then you should not worry about it as its a myth. You will not lose any PR by having a high amount of outbound links.
The amount of outbound links is part of algo determining the PR of the receiving page but never affects the PR on your page. You might want to change the signature setting to only visible to the members if you still feel uncomfortable. ![]() |

If you can you can probably put rel="nofollow" in the anchor tag.

Yes, it works ![]() Search engines do not follow links with rel='external nofollow' properties. Most blogs have this function enabled so that they can minimize spamming. |

Its also a good idea only to allow longstanding members to have signatures. Thats what this site does and it discourages people who are spam posting.
