signature links and google pr

How much do signature links boost your google pr? Are there some forums out there that benefit you more than others? If so, can anyone post a list of forums that are good at rewarding you with each post you make.

They don't really help much, maybe enough to boost a site from PR0 to a PR1 or PR2 because most actual forum pages that your link will be on have very little PR.

So, why does someone such as yourself even bother posting if their is no real reward?

What does that mean - you do it for the anchor text? Does google count this anchor text if the webmaster of the forum has put in place code that tells the search engines not to follow signature links?

I think the people at Google are too smart to give too much weight to all forum posts.

Most of us post here because we want to be part of the community, not for selfish reasons such as increasing links to our site.

Belonging to a community may introduce to a few people with similar hobbies as yours and you may one day develop a relationship worthy or reciprocal links. But this sort of friendship can take as long as it does in real life...quite a while.

There is no EASY way to get links to your site. All require hard work, but probably the best is to write original, beneficial articles and submit them to e-zines.

Though forum signatures are given very little weightage, they get free clickthroughs to the pages linked. It is a kind of free PPC Campaign.
