Site traffic suddenly dropped in half

We recently saw a sudden drop of web site traffic on June 6th in which our daily visitor count was cut in two. It has stayed that way ever since. Our traffic has been steady for the past 6 months and it is very odd that the traffic should suddenly change all at once like that.

Has there been some change to the way web sites are found through Google? I know our page rank has not changed.

Your PageRank has nothing to do with your ranking in google. Nothing whatsoever.

You probably need to find more relevant one-way links. Also add content daily so the spiders will find it appetizing to come to your site all the time. Keep the content relative and fresh. Do not exchange links with unrelevant sites. If you do exchange stay on topic. Without knowing your site situation I can not tell you exactly what you may have done wrong or didn't do right but that is the general cure all idea. And if done right does work.

Our content is updated several times a week and the site is constantly being crawled by several search engines everyday, Google included.

I think saying that page rank has nothing to do with your ranking is a very bold statement, that I do not agree with.

From Google:

"The heart of our software is PageRank™, a system for ranking web pages developed by our founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University. And while we have dozens of engineers working to improve every aspect of Google on a daily basis, PageRank continues to provide the basis for all of our web search tools."

It sounds as though Google has ranked you lower than previously in one of their regular re-shuffles. I have found that sites often take large jumps up or down as a result of these re-shuffles.

Thumbs up Traffic Drop...Rank may go down...PageRank is no useful..

This is true that Page Rank has almost nothing to do with rank. Yes, it may help, but its not everything. There are many other factors which are responsible for ranking.

Regarding traffic drop, have you checked about rankings rather than page rank? It might possible that your rank may have dropped down.

Anyway, if you want we can provide you FREE SEO ranking report to drill down the problem further. Just send email to me at Ankur@aceinternetmarketing.ie -I am SEO Expert at AceInternetMarketing.

It depends on what kind of website you're running, If u're running a gaming or downloading website, your traffic will drop yes in summer-time cuz not much students stay infront of PCs anymore to visit your website, but If you're running a travelling website, your traffic will INCREASE in summer-times, I face the exact kind of problem, my visitors drop to half at summer-times ... Don't worry
