Hi all!
I have one question. Does anybody knows if subdomains receives a PageRank of 1 like a main domain (which share it's PageRank with subpages) and can share it with one like an external site ... or the PageRank is shared with a main domain. Thanks! |

I am not clear what you are asking.
Any page can have PageRank, including subdomains; it all depends on how many pages point to it. In fact, on my own site, some internal pages have a higher PR than the main page. The main page is pretty much just a table of contents, so I am not surprised; I assume more people are linking directly to an internal page than the front page. All pages on my site have their own PR. The fact that they point to each other may provide a small boost to each's PR, but Google doesn't have a policy of giving each page on a domain the same PR. As far as I know, Google treats each page pretty much independently, and assigns PR according to its standard criteria: the number--and quality--of links pointing to it. |

Yes, you're right, but what I'm asking is ...
Every new domain (whole web site in this domain) gets a PR 1, which is shared with all pages in that domain. If there are no external links pointing on the site, a PR 1 on that domain remains and can't be changed, only spred between pages in the site (depend on that, how internal links are pointing between each other). Now, I'm asking if a subdomain also gets a PR 1 at the start independent of the main domain (if we assume, that there are no external links jet, and that there are no links pointing from a main domain). Thanks |

are you sure about this? my homepage started out with PR 0 and the index page now has PR1 (took half a year), pages internally still have PR0 the pages do all interlink with each other (also connected with a sitemap) i have almost no links directing to my site - this explains the low page rank ... but to say that you start out with PR1 is not true, neither that this transfers over to your subdomains or internal pages edit: alright, i am looking forward for my internal pages to have PR1 also ![]() Last edited by kaskudoo : August 21st, 2006 at 06:48 AM. |

I'm not saying, that your index page has PR1 at the start, but whole web site (if you add up all pages). You have very quickly PR1 if a few good links are pointing at your page and even if your subpages are properly pointing to it.
And yes ... PageRank is shared between pages if they are linked together ... so your conclusion was a little to fast I'm taking this from http://www.iprcom.com/papers/pagerank/index.html |
