Web server location and Geotargetting

We have com.hk domain names but our target is not only the Hong Kong Market but the International Market. Will it effects our 'Geotargetting' if we will host our site outside HK, specifically in US?

Am I correct to say that once I did it, we will lessen the chances
to be indexed in google.com.hk but increase the chances in google.com? Because google.com indexed more of US-based website???

The way I would go about is build your links from sites located in Hong Kong and North America - this way your targeting both on a Regional level and International.

Also get some Analytics installed on your site to help with global traffic and how they are finding you - helps with link building and marketing strategies.

Can you explain your reasoning why just getting backlinks from .com sites will help in ranking with Google.com - my interest is piqued.

Search engines give more weight if you have more inbound links from .com sites.
i mean link must be from targeted keyword as a anchor text. this is common things if more .com sites pointing your sites than means you are good in .com market. that is the reason by getting more .com links you can boost ranking in google.com

I don't agree with that, the inbound links build up naturally from relevant sites of any trusted source can help to boost up ranking, if it is from .edu and .gov sites it carry more weight IMO.

For Geo-targeting you need to capture that location by gathering links from those sites which are located in that area and ranked well in that locale. If you are getting links from TLDs then it's global, it can be from any region. It's boundless.
