Lightbulb What is considered a success

hi all ,

How should a site be assessed to know whether it is successful as far as search engine rankings are concerned?

What is considered a good ranking?

thanks

A good ranking is when you can take the traffic from it no matter how little and have a very high conversion rate. That is why I caution some people not to aim for some very general keywords just because they get searched often because you will have a hard time converting. If you get 100 visitors for one term and 75% of them buy something it is better than getting 10,000 and having 1% conversion. There would be something wrong there.

Hi,
A successful site is one that ranks high enough for its chosen search terms that it gets sufficient visitors to achieve the objective that you had in setting up the site in the first place.

Except for the classified ads section I beg to differ. (I would get rid of it) As I already said ranking the highest for any keyword is not always best. Ranking #1 for 'shopping' when you seel 5 products and you will convert hardly any of it compared to if you ranked top for each of those products or a temr directly related to them.
