The real PR of any site or web page is updated constantly. Most likely done daily through algorithms. The PR you see on tool bars are usually updated in 3-4 month cycles.

Some sites get sudden jump in PR i.e. from 1 to 3 or from 2 to 4 in just few month. That really made me curious to know this. Thanks for updating me.

PR 1-3 is relatively easy. Getting PR4 is also not that hard. PR5 upwards you need many top quality links.

I think the process depends on how SE's bots visit your sites and calculating your site's points.

Please will you help my to get my pages PR 1-3, because i work one month on backlink, and go to forums with PR most of 4 and higher, and few of 3 and PR is 0.

The pagerank is updated occasionally when the search engine checks the site. Is useful to repeat the site submission process.
