What to do with 404 errors?

We have just redesigned our website and got some 404 error fixed most of them. But still getting 10 to 15 not found error in Google webmaster tool. Is it something serious?

Are those "real" pages? Did you do something to cause those pages to 404? Move them? Take them down?

first of all you have to check about those pages are available or not which are seen by google webmaster, if it is not available then apply "mark as fixed"

The issue is related to web development and technical side. If you have 404 pages on your website your visitors will not like it. If you are not sure how to handle your 404 errors or unable to locate them at the moment, then simply do a redirect to your contact page whenever 404 page is encountered. Use Htaccess and get this done.

Dont worry too much about Google. Issue is technical in nature.

This is technical side of issue. It can be due developer guys mistake. Address has been changed nothing else. You did not have given the instruction to google that your website's page's adress has been changed. Do redirect through .htacess file. This is the way to tell the google that our website's page's address is now relocated at bla bla bla adress. Your issues will be solved easily. After it just go to webmaster and do the "Mark as fix" for that pages if you will not do in proper way messages and sites adress will again come as an issue. If you don't get them again that means your problem is solved.

You have to check dead links of your website if you find any dead links just replace them in live links. If you dont find anything wrong in your live website then no need to worry also check if you've not make any redirection from old URLs to new URLs
