Anyone recommend good SSL certificate company?

Hello,

I wish to purchase an SSL certificate for use with OSCommerce. It seems that prices range between £20 - £250. Quite a difference!

I don't want to skimp, but I don't want to pay more than necessary. The OS Commerce is for my parents shop and they want to start selling online.

What is the difference anyway? Is it just browser recognition? Can I trust the browser recognition figures they give anyway?

Any recommendations appreciated!

The cert has to be traceable back to a cert stored in the browser's cache or the browser will complain. So, does the low-end CA provide that or not? That is all that matters. Having said that, even the high price is still quite low, can be written off as an expense, and in most cases is good for 2-3 years, so keep in mind that it doesn't take too many customers to go somewhere else before you have lost enough to make up the difference.

So the primary factor is browser recoognition. Yet some of the £40 certificate companies quote figures such as 99.3% browser recognition.

Can anyone make a recommendation as to which company to use? I am thinking of spending £80 ($140 USD), unless of course you think this is insufficient.

I don't have an opinion, but I strongly suggest you spend some time googling on whatever CA you plan to use to get an impression of their reputation.

You have three option to buy your private ssl

- Buy from directly Certificate authority like Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte, RapidSSL ( Costly option )

- Buy from your hosting provider ( Cheaper than certificate authority )

- Buy from authorized certificate provider like SSLMatrix ( Cheaper than any other )

So why not choose authorized certificate reseller.

*This is my personal advise to you*
