Crypto Protocol Evaluation - Help with a new encryption

Hello All;

I am new to this forum and found it through a "google" search. I have read some of the posts and think that this is the forum for me. I do not currently work in the computer industry, though I do have a degree in computer science. I wrote a program dealing with my field, and I hope to make some money on the side by marketing it (maybe even a company buying it from me). Anyways , why I came to this site. With all of the "hackers" out there, I asked a friend of mine, who is in the biz, for their help. He decided to impliment a serial number system. He based it on some of the software he works on. I was wondering how hard it would be for a person to "crack' the code and steal my software. So I will post a sample set...and please anyone willing try to crack it. If you do, please let me know and to prvent someone from simply saying that they can crack it, I will be asking for the proof in the form of the solution, or I will give another set with the answer needed in return. To all that help, thank you in advance...and I hope this proves to be a challenge.

GIVEN
VNX3-92IG-5L7M-2QWL (Serial Number)
AND
TUBB-AVTQ (Unlock Code)
MAKES
VKQK-NVNF (Activation Code)

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

Hmmm..... if you're trying to prevent people creating serial gens or anything of that nature, my advice is "don't waste your time". Just ask Microsoft, Macrovision, Sony etc...

Others may feel differently, but my take is this: create a serial system with activation (if desired) to try and help mitigate casual copying (and help you with management of support contracts etc), but if your app is desirable enough, expect someone to spend their time trying to break it (and be successful).

Best regards,
AstroTux.
