Pop up authentication screen

Hello,

I am building a part of site which needs authorization. I am verifying in ldap. This all works. I used my own pageto authenticate, but my boss wants me to use a pop up window. I have searched for days to find a way to do it without javascript. Is it possible to send your browser information so it will show the pop up authentication screen?
