SSL Queries

Hi,
Having searched google, and looking around I cannot find a good reference on SSL implementation with examples. For example, if I want to have a secure area on my server and I create a sub-domain called http://secure.mysite.com, when I purchase the ssl, do I list it as secure.mysite.com, or www.secure.mysite.com. When providing a link to the secure area, do include the https, or does having the ssl installed mean it is automatically recognized as a https?

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers

I believe you list it to the URL you are going to use an example is my server is named server.domain.local and uses SSL for a secure site at www.domain.com. now if I just used the cert my autoenroll (internal CA) gave it you would get an error when you whent to that page saying the name on the security cert is different from the web site to correct this issue I would then contact my CA and request a web server certificate for name www.domain.com my ca would give it a new cert to use for web site www.domain.com and use that for the site, this would then fix the problem. for each additional site I would request and grant certificates from my own internal CA.
