use of openssl

Hi,

I would like to have opinions on using OpenSSL (easy to install, to use, efficiency,...) for a professional website.

Thank you

I've installed openssl with apache and mod_ssl.

I've installed the lot from source I wouldn't call myself a *nix expert far from it infact but, the amount of documentation out there is huge and the process isn't particularly difficult as long as you read everything through a couple of times first.

If your not confident about installing it all from source there are definately linux rpms (try rpmfind) out that do it all.

as far as ease of use goes its very simple to creat your own keys and more importantly verisign/thawte etc keys are just as simple to install

efficiency is harder to gauge, we use stronghold on sun boxes at work and theres more of an issue with the added overhead running over an ssl connection rather than from server performance but the servers aren't exactly pushed hard.
