    How secure is htaccess password protection?


    I am wanting to create a secure area on my website and it needs to be VERY secure. Would htaccess be secure enough?

    .htaccess password protection is secure for what it does - protecting access to documents accessed through Apache. .htaccess is not a complete security solution for protecting sensitive data though, it does not encrypt the data, nor does it prevent access by any method except through the web server.
