security on server access
I am doing a project on " security on server access ". the design is as such-----
When a client wants to connect to a server we find out whether the client is an authenticated user,if so he is given access to the server.this is accomplished by a authenticating server( which we will be programmed by us ) which will be maintaing a database of authenticated users.
the request sent by the client is encrypted. the authenticating server decrypts the request checks whether he is auhenticated user and sends back a session key along with the original request(both are encrypted) so that it is not altered in between. using this session key the client connects to the server.
please guide on how to implement this project and give any related links and materials.
thanks in advance.

What language are you making this in? Most languages like PHP, Perl and ASP/ASP.net have some session routines pre-made for them. The rest is simple: SSL certificates for the encryption and a bit of database programming to get user details.
