WEP Problems
Ok, I have read lots of article about WEP, however, I still find myself not quite understand this problem that it faces.
It says that WEP is used in the lowest 2 layers of ISO model, thus, it doesn't provide end-to-end security.
Can anyone pls clarify this.
Extra hardcore info that anyone could tell me would be great. I am doing an assignment on this. But of-course, I am not gonna ask you to answer my assignment questions!
Thanks,
Alianto

It basicly says that WEP encrypts the link and does not secure your applications.
So you still have to secure your services so that not anyone that you allow access to your WLAN can get access to them.
Also, iirc, the WEP encryption is not very strong (40bits) and thus can be hacked quite easily. Donīt rely on it. It is recommended that you use a VPN or IPSEC when you are using wireless networking.
