Is there anyway to setup a secure server using Apache, and other related tools without having to pay anything? Normally you would have to buy a certificate or something, but can you do it without one??

Cheers for the links. I haven't done much with security b4, although I have done lots of websites. I just understood that you needed a certificate from BT Trustwise or another trusted company. I didn't know that you could do it without! I'll have a look at those links, and thanks again for your help!

The only way is to use a host that allows use of their SSL cert.
We allow customers use of ours but the url is along the lines of :-
https://oursecureurl/yourdomain
If you buy a cert you can use your own domain.

Free? Yes, run your own cert server. Or just use a test cert and key, this will still encrypt your htt.
