Gantt charts

Hi Guys

Please can someone help me with Gantt charts..what are
some of the tasks/activities that we can add in a Gantt cart..

Do you know what a gantt chart is?

Yes, you use it to plot tasks and the completion thereof. What tasks have you to manage? We use them professionally for project management. Got a project? If you do there are probably phases of that project with specific tasks assigned to individuals or teams. That's what we put on the chart ... :-\

HI

Thanks for the reply..

I am not really working on a project.my kid is doing an assignment and he has to do a dummy Gantt cart.So he wants to know what are typical tasks/activities that can go in there ...I searched google/yahoomsn ...I cannot find a
practical example of Gantt chart in a software developmet
environment

Any help please

The five basic steps in the SDLC (systems/software development life cycle) are:

Analysis
Design
Development
Testing/QA
Implementation

Some would add a sixth step of Support. Support should be a part of the design process too.

From there I think you can break down each piece a little more to come up with a Gantt chart. I hate Gantt charts though, I've never had a practical use for them. I keep organized other ways. Everyone has their thing though
