I found this site and I guess it will help you to make logo. It is an open source alternative to photoshop. gimp.org will help you.

Actually just look for someone professional to do it, and give them your mindset, most of the time this works for me, I get sleek and professional designs.

For Logo Creation Adobe Photoshop is the best way. You can also use CorelDraw for Logo Creation, but CorelDraw is quite difficult than Photoshop. Otherwise you can also hire expert Logo Developer.

It depend what kind of logo you want, Try to search related logo on Google search engine and get an idea from other logos and make your own logo on adobe Photoshop.
