Relevance of Link Local Addresses?
Hello
I'm writing a log file of various things and would like each entry to carry the IP Address of the machine. I know how to obtain the address(es) but now that I'm testing it on W7 I get 6 of them - 3 IPv4 and 3x IPv6 with a percent sign towards the end.
I searched on the net and determined that those are so called link-local addresses.
My Question:
Do these link local addresses have any relevance for identifying the machine?
If my understanding of this is correct then those are self assigned addresses used only used for communication internally of the machine. Is this correct? Can I just leave them out of the entry?
