SIMULATOR PROGRAM. communicating trainer (Hardware) with software. Guidance....

    Hi all,

I want to create something similar to the video below on youtube. Copy paste..

"Cycling training simulator (free ware) +Projector screen"

Can anybody share with me some advice on the steps to take?

I have somebody designing the 3d world but am concerned about making a bike trainer communicate and work the avatar in the game. For example if i cycle, the avatar will, if brake.turn left, turn right.etc etc.

also If i create the 3d world first is this a problem? do they need to be created at the same time?

    Any guidance is MUCH appreciated.

    Warm regards,

    Daley.

I take it you mean this video
I suppose you could post a comment on youtube.

You'll need a series of sensors to provide information.
For example, something to indicate how fast the wheels are turning.

You need to define some interfaces up front.
So for example, your avatar in the 3D world needs x,y,z (position) and rx,ry,rz (orientation) parameters.

The glue s/w between the physical bike and the VR world will take all the sensor input, and compute those 6 parameters on a regular basis.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper

    Hi Salem,

Thankyou for replying. Your help is invaluable.

In regards to creating communication between the bike and VR world i have found that there are 3 sensors that are required. 1. Handle bar sensors 2. Candence sensor. 3. Rear wheel tire sensor (gauge speed.) this is as you have described.

The problem i am having is not being able to find these sensors! If you have any idea it would be a MASSIVE help.

To add I am concerened about software authorship. I wonder if that will limit me. Basically i am wondering that if i use a bike trainer it has to be associated with a producer but this is what i am trying to avoid. I will create my own bike trainer and create software this forth.

Your opinions are very welcome and will help me to complete my project.

    Warm regards

    Daley
