a better skin without crap ads!
we need a better skin ...

for a subscription that is yearly, it will cost $200. we will have ads removed and the loading time will be tons faster.

is this feasable?

And how would that be related to removing the ads at the top of threads?

I think he's saying that you, as users, could pay Dev Shed $200 a year to "subscribe", and in return you'd get a no-ads skin.

You would seriously be willing to pay $200 to browse Dev Shed for a year without adverts? Erm... well I wouldn't, the ads really don't annoy me at all, certainly not enough to pay that much.

Woah - $200?
Many sites like DS with "paid subscriptions" have rates around $15-$20/year. For that some will drop the ads, or show fewer of them (though that dilutes the value of the ads to the site).

IMO, $200 would be 10dB too much.

make it $50. it just seemed like there was a lot of ads.

We would consider using a different skin but it must incorporate all of the ad units we are currently running.

Well if this is that important to you guys create a skin contest, put it up as a poll with screen caps, and if one of them gets a overwhelming majority we will consider switching to it.

All a new skin would need is the same colors DevShed has always had... a light and simple "green and yellow."
