Another thread disappeared!
For those who were following the last thread that disappeared - the one about rep, or those who were in the one before that that disappeared - the one about bandwagons, here's the post I just wrote and tried to post (until I found that the thread had once again disappeared into the ether)...

I'm guessing this is directed at me, though I'm not 100% sure...

As was mentioned by LinuxPenguin, I never come to the lounge and I didn't know what went on here and call me naive, but I had thought that reputation was about coding and being helpful. I thought it was kind of like saying 'this guy/girl knows what he/she's talking about, so pay attention'. I found out that that's not the case. I found out that the people with the most friends get the most rep. That's fair enough, and I'm really not whining about it - as I said before, I really don't care. It just seems misleading.

The irony is that I'm getting rep for my first comment about the rep system being kind of pointless...

I wasn't trying to start a fight, attack anybody or whine about not getting enough birthday cake - I just wanted to post what I had written in a thread that suddenly disappeared like a Chinese political activist.

A lot of threads have been disappearing as per some new policy in the works, don't be alarmed.

Domwiz was just making a comment directed at anyone who takes rep seriously.

Part of the reason why the lounge is in such an uproar at the moment, is due to the misuse of the rep. system. We're looking at adding some guidelines.

My view is that if you spend time in a forum you get to know who the users with REAL reputation are - regardless of how many blobs they've got by their name. Judge the advice you receive on it's own merits, and not by number of blobs.

Again - please don't feel that you're being "censored", as I've said elsewhere, there is a major clean-up of the Lounge underway, many posts are being deleted. You are in no-way being singled out.

yes, sometimes the lounge isn't the best place for making bold coding declarations ... ... and a polite nudge is all that's needed.
