i notice that i'm currently taking up 191.3 kb for 4 attachments - this raises a number of questions :
1. how much space is allowed per user for attachments ? 2. is this maximum fixed ad infinitum or does it only take into account attachments for the last x months ? 3. if the maximum is fixed, can i delete earlier attachments if i need space for later ones ? 4. is there an alternative to attachments (taking into account that the first one was because i would otherwise have exceeded the maximum size for included code) ? |

3) See User CP > Attachments (very bottom left).
4) Host the file elsewhere and link to it.

just thought of something : you can't edit a post that is older than 30 days, but can you still delete attachments to a post that is more than 30 days old ?

If you can't, then just PM a mod of the forum which contains the thread (with a link to the post) and ask them (nicely !) if they will remove the attachment for you.

IN your control panel there's an option to manage your attachments, you don't need to edit your posts AFAIR, as per attachment, ironic really

i've tried it, and it's true : you don't need the edit function to delete attachments however, if you want to put them back then you do (i tried it on a post that was still within the 30-day limit), so after 30 days you'd better be sure that what you delete doesn't need to be replaced at a later stage, or it's grovel time with admin |

it would appear i was wrong with my previous post : i just checked my attachments, and whilst there is a checkbox to mark an attachment for deletion for posts that you still can edit, this checkbox has disappeared when a post can no longer be edited
conclusion : a non-editable post also applies to the attachment - bummer ![]() |
