why is there a automatic <BR> tag inserted in long rep comments ?

Well, it's meant to wrap to the next line when a rep comment gets too long. It's anyones guess why it's also showing a second <BR> in a readable format.

Comments are being encoded, but then it's going through another jump where that encoding is rendered literal. So "hello" comes out "hello&quote; and such nonsense.
